About Toto
Toto was formed in the year 1976 by guitarists Jeff Porcaro, David Paich (who at the time were also well-known studio musicians working with Boz Scaggs) and bassist/singer Bobby Kimball. The group's name was derived from a Latin word that means "all-encompassing" and was determined to explore every musical style.

The third album by Toto, Turn Back, was a failure in 1981. However they made amends with their fourth release, Isolation, which contained two hit songs, including the title song and Roseanna. The album and their tour made them a household brand across the globe.
After a break of couple of years, Toto return with the album Fahrenheit in the year 1986. It's a change from the ballads that were featured on previous albums and features some heavy rock. It was their first platinum album in North America.
In the course of recording the band's fifth album, the band loses their manager and are put in financial difficulty. They decide to change their name and record a new album with an entirely new producer. Lead vocalist Fergie Frederiksen is let go and replaced by Joseph Williams, son of legendary film composer John Williams and 1950s actress Barbara Ruick. Joseph is a more natural frontman than Frederiksen and gives the band a much needed boost.
In 1999, the band released Mindfields and begins an extensive tour across the globe. After several weeks in Europe, the band heads to Japan for sold-out shows. After a short break, Toto resumes recording and goes on to record their first live album titled Absolutely Live in 1993 which includes the cover of Weezer's track Hash Pipe in response to the band's cover of their hit Africa on their recent tour. Toto's touring group is comprised by drummer Lenny Castro, bassist Shannon Forrest and keyboardist Shem von Schroeck.

The following year, Toto toured with Ringo Starr's All Starr Band. This was the final time that all original Toto members Toto were on stage together. After that, the group broke up again. Toto came back together for a benefit concert in 2010 to raise money for the ALS Foundation. It was the first time in over 31 years that all of Toto's original members were on stage together. The original group was joined by keyboardist Greg Tambu who filled in for Paich, and bassist David Hungate who filled in for Shem von Schroeck.
